About the Process
With USC being online for the 2020-2021 school year, it became an interesting challenge to come up with what the theater and production kids could do for their assignments.
It was decided that the actors and production kids would be split into several separate groups, each group only having production kids or actors, and each group would decide what it was that they wanted to do.
My group chose to do an interactive game style production dealing with current events, which, in fall of 2020, was the upcoming election.
We ended up creating a virtual maze walkthrough, rendered in Vectorworks and filmed as a video walkthrough. We uploaded that video to an interactive website called "Mindstamp" that allowed us to share the link with people and monitor their activity on the page.
Each person in our group had their own assigned topic that they were to research and then we split up what we wanted to do for each topic.
Each topic corresponded to a stopping point on the mindstamp page and at each stopping point, the viewer was presented with a variety of different media reflecting what the group had decided to present for that topic. Media presentations included from animations, info graphics, costumes created based on research, an installation art pieces.
At the end of each stopping point, the viewer was given a quiz question based on the presented media.
The idea behind this video was to show just how much important and impactful information there is that a lot of people fail to understand or acknowledge.
My Contribution
My contribution to this project came in the form of creating informative animations, recording and editing the voiceovers for those animations, adding the sound design to the overall video, research on a variety of topics, helping to create the layout of the maze, and compiling the whole thing together on the Mindstamp website.
